You only need some angle iron and you can create the base, a fixed jaw and a sliding jaw. Regardless of the size of the project you need to work on, you can put together your on welding vice to help you get the job done.

And yet a third project could be your own anvil stand. For this project, you should use schedule 80 pipe in order to make certain your stand is strong enough to hold the anvil. In addition, you should set the legs at an 8 degree angle in order to achieve stability. With a little angle iron, some flat bar and pipe, however, you can build an anvil stand that is perfectly sized for you and your anvil.
