Electric Pick Up Truck and Trailer with Solar Panels
Our electric pick up truck: We are building a truck powered by batteries. The truck needs 12 full-sized lead-acid batteries to run. The best position for our pickup truck batteries is low and toward the center of the vehicle. We welded a battery rack between the frame members and welded posts to create a point of attachment for battery insulated battery restraining bars above the batteries. These bars prevent the batteries from shifting in the event of a collision.
The batteries were slightly higher than the standard truck bed position when installed. We cut the truck bed to allow the batteries to stick through the bed. This allowed access for adding water to the batteries and keeping connections tight. A plastic lid was put over the batteries and opening to shed rainwater.
