Charcoal Grill Welding Project

My Charcoal Grill Project

I recently got fed up with my grill and did what I normally do when some metal starts misbehaving. I got out my blowtorch. I decided to scrap my old grill (it has been good to me, but it is time to move on) and I got a 55 gallon metal drum. I cut it a little shy of half lengthwise. I put some hinges onto it to close the lid. I then got some 2" angle iron and welded four legs onto it with cross braces between the sides and the back. I decided not to mess with wheels because I wasn't planning on moving it. I then got some 1/2" angle iron and welded onto to removable cross pieces to make the grates. I left about 5/8" in between each piece. The grates are the perfect size for a nice bratwurst. I loaded it up and gave it a shot and it works just fine.
