Quadrafire fire pot

I am in exactly the same place. My ceramic pot for my Quadrafire 1100a has been discontinued for years. I am looking into building one. New fire pot from manufacturer costs $600 + linkage $125 + heater $60. That's $800 before shipping. I am looking into casting a new ceramic or welding something up like you did. How did it work out?
