Fire Box Project

by Gina Jackson
(Morris Chapel, TN)

I am building a fire box for a friend of mine who has tons of pictures. I am planning to use 1x1x1/8 inch angle iron. 1/16 inch sheets of cold rolled steel. The box is going to be 2x2x4 feet. It will have a lid that will tightly close over the top. When I have the outside shell completed I will make another box to place inside of the outer. It will be spaced 1in apart so that I can fill it with sand. The bottom of the box will be 1/8in and 1/16in made into a box also filled with sand so that heat wont come through the bottom. I will be placing 3in industrial coasters welded to the bottom so that it will be easily movable. I really hope that this box turns out the way I have planned it. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to let me know. Thanks.
