Project Idea for your truck

Dude,
Take yourself down to the scrap yard and hunt around for some scrap angle iron or square tubing to use for bumpers on your '66. Steel costs next to nothing if its not out of the store. I built front and rear bumpers for my Toyota 4x4 that are solid as hell. They are simple, clean cut square tube bumpers built for business not for showin off in a paved parking lot. On an old Bronco simple is what you need anyway. I welded on receiver tubes front and rear so I could manage a hitch mounted winch. Those cost me 15 bucks a piece. The bumper steel was less than $10. At that price, you can mess up practically all you want. Going to school to learn is not a bad idea but I'd trust the advice of a sixty year old man who never went to school for welding and had to figure out his own short cuts and skills over the twenty something young buck who took some classes. You gotta live it to really learn it. Practice and don't be afraid to ask people. Every body has their secrets and ways of doing things. Good luck.

Go learn something

Go to school and learn how to weld a little more. Projects are parts of the learning and as I told my son You wouldn't jump in an 18 wheeler without going to school so go.
