Mermaids Tail

Hi I am doing a welding course at tafe college of a mermaid which the top part is in clay and from the hip down it will be in metal I would like some feed back on how would one would go about doing it. I know the school will show me how. However I would like some feed back on other options. Thanks Antoinette.
