Metals and How To Weld Them

I highly recommend this hardback book from the James F. Lincoln foundation. It's called Metals And How To Weld Them. This book describes all the different types of metals, alloys and cast steel and how to heat and weld them.

The book covers mig and extensive SMAW electrodes with the 60xx psi tensile strength class and not the 70xx class electrodes.

However, this is no big deal because the book's information is completely relevant to today's modern welding process for all metals. After all, time has gone by, but metal composition hasn't changed much over time.

The book was originally published in the late 50's if I recall correctly and is still published today.

Excellent book about welding metal
by: Jim Nasium

This book was a fascinating book, describing various metals and how to weld them (just like the title says). I refer to the book now and then as a refresher when I get a request from a customer to weld on non-typical metals.

This book was a requirement in my pursuit for a metallurgy degree. It is a valuable tool for the welder.
