Micro Welding Information!
Micro Welding is a specialist type of welding that requires patience and a keen eye. You may find experienced welders are brilliant at layer welding or TIG welding but how many can say they are truly advanced in micro, not many to be truthful. Micro-welding is the shortened name for microscopic welding and as the name suggests this means welding very small pieces of material literally under a microscope, this type of welding is truly an art form and there are not many qualified micro welders around. To put into perspective the requirements of this technique, you only have to look at the welding they carry out. This type of welding includes micro wire end of 0.05 millimeters (0.002") to something of the same or even lower thickness. This just proves that this technique is a very unique form of welding. Another interesting point about micro welding is that while other welding techniques require a welder who can weld large pieces of metal together the micro process goes a step further and requires welding small hardware components together. The process The micro process of welding involves using a consistent heat source to weld small amounts of material onto a specific location with minimal tolerance for error. In the welding world we talk about a one millimeter tolerance of error while on a micro level the tolerance is of one hundredth of a millimeter and even less, this just proves how painstakingly difficult the process can be. The welder A micro welder doesn't look much like a welder to be honest, it looks more like something out of a science class. This type of welder has a main body made up of a very strong microscope with two eye holes for the user and many controls to ensure the right level of focus is gained. Either side of the main body are two torches that meeting in the middle under the microscope for the welder to be able to see their work effectively and a welder to weld with. There are many different types of welders to choose from. If you are not a patient person who is organized and has a strong hand eye coordination along with a keen eye for detail then this type of welding will not be for you. It's a special class of welders who have a lot of respect from all types of welders, even underwater welders.
