go to your local autoparts store and pick up a universal joint for an intermediate shaft and grab some 1/2" pipe or rod for a column. wanna make it collapsable? grab 3/4" .125 wall tubing & 1/2" cold rolled rod. weld the u-joint to the pipe then lightly tack the rod inside the tube with about 6" between the bottom of the rod & the u-joint so if you impact on it it wont crush your chest

Steering Column

Hey guy, I'm automatically thinking an old school traditional/simplistic idea. It would help if I had a picture or shop drawing of what you are working with. Meanwhile if you can provide the pic or drawing, I'll be trying to jog my memory on that type of steering application. Cool prodject, just need to know what we are working with so as not to make a bigger fool of myself than already established (lol).
