Prevent Bending

by Robert
(Cleveland ,Ohio, US)

One possible way to try and prevent bending would be to try not to weld the piece up so quickly. You don't really want to dip or spray down the piece to cool it either. Try, if you can to place a plate on the backside if you can, that is 3/4 to 1" thick. Also try to make that plate maybe an inch + wide past either side of the area to weld. Tack the plate very well, take time welding it up, and hopefully that will help. That's just my opinion good luck bud!
