generator
by: lawrence grijak

To successfully run your AC/DC 225/125 welder you would need a minimum of a 15,000 watt AC generator.

as per lincoln electric.

Generator size.
by: Steve M

I have an 8000 watt, 13500 watt surge general purpose generator I keep around for emergency purposes. It runs my Lincoln 235 AC/DC welder fine save when a rod sticks and I can't break it loose quickly enough. Then it pops the breaker on the welder. I used this setup to build a 30x40 steel weldup building I am going to use for my shop.

I will tell you what I understand
by: Anonymous

I will tell you what I understand. My welder takes a 50 amp circuit breaker at 220 volts. Your generator will need to put out that much if your welder is comparable to mine. And I believe it is. But I would still check to see if you have a information plate on the outside of your welder telling you your welders amperage needs. Otherwise type in your make and model number of your welder into Google and see if there is any specs out there you can look at. Then find a generator that meet your requirements. Be sure though to test the generator out when you get it home. I bought a generator for a project I had and the generator was not able to generate the power that the box said that it could. So I returns it right away and got a bigger generator.-Lee.
