A Tig Welding Machine Guide

This article discusses the tig welding machine and it's many uses, as well as where to get a tig welder for less than you might think.

What is TIG welding? TIG welding is, Tungsten inert gas welding. Here one can weld stainless steel, aluminum and tungsten with the help of this welder.

A tig welding machine consists of a control unit and a torch. The torch has an outlet for the gas to flow. Inert gas is continuously flowing through the nozzle which protects the welding zone from impurities. The most bulky part of the equipment is the compressed gas bottle which needs to be carried along when carrying out welding at field.

In a MIG welding machine, the filler rod is continuously fed into the torch and one only needs to guide the torch. When using a tig welder, the welder must hold the torch in one hand and he should be able to guide the filler rod with the other hand. With the help of the torch he is heating both the filler rod and the welding zone at the same time thus carrying out his welding.

With the help of a tig welding machine the welder is able to carry out welding a number of metals like aluminum, stainless steel and tungsten. He also can carry out welding of different sheets by varying the ampere rating of his machine.

However tig welding machines are available in two categories, the lower end can be used to carry out house hold welding and occasional welding. Here the thickness of the welding sheets is also limited and pre heating is also done only for a short duration of time. When making use of a higher end machine one can carryout industrial welding and the pre heating can also be carried out for a longer time. With the help of a giant tig welder machines, one can achieve a greater amount of penetration.

There are certain multi user tig welders that are available in today's market that will meet the requirements of TIG welding along with MIG welding. Machines like the ESAB Multi Master 160 w/ 10-ft GM250 & Stinger and one like the ESAB Multi Master 260 Industrial Ready-To-Weld Multi-Process Package 12 ft 208/230vac 1ph 50/60hz CO2 are good machines that will meet the requirements of TIG welding along with MIG welding.

There are also certain dedicated TIG welding machines like the ones brought out by Lincoln electric company. These are small and quite handy machines that are useful around any garage or in the back yard of your house. These machines work on house hold supply and all you need to do is increase the rating of your fuse. With one of these machines in your back yard you are likely to gain a few new friends.

There are certain heavy duty dedicated tig welders from Lincoln electric company, which comes with a number of patented features. One such model is the Lincoln Electric's Precision™ TIG 185.
