Neutralize the acid
by: Anonymous

I've used this method many times when welding or brazing galvanized material or fasteners that are bright zinc plated. Neutralize any acid left on the material by rinsing the part in water then dipping it into a mix of water and baking soda. Rinse again, let it dry and resume working.
