A Welding Reel and Where to Get Them At Low Prices!
A welding reel is mostly used in Mig welding, arc welding, and gas welding. Many people who are lucky enough to enjoy the hobby of welding are always on the lookout for quality reels to support their welding projects. For those that do not know what a reel is, it's a wheel containing welding wire that reels the wire out. Reels are predominantly used in MIG welding as it is a semi automatic welding type that uses the welding reel for the welder to automatically feed the welding wire to the welding torch so a welder can weld their work.
How to use one... The first process when using a welding reel is to prepare the wire for feeding into the welder, to do this you need to keep a tight hold of the end and pull it out of the reel ensuring you don't let it slack or let go as this will mean the wire will coil up and unravel. Once you have wire in hand you need to check that the end is straight so it wont damage the welder by not feeding in correctly. The next step is to feed the wire from the reel into the welder by guiding it through the guide tube then over the roller on the other side, again ensuring that you don't let go or let any slack appear. After this you can set the roller tension so that the wire cannot coil back, after this is done you can let go of the wire safe in the knowledge that it wont coil back. All reels normally come with their own tension spring, this is used to ensure that the really doesn't unravel by itself, unfortunately you do need to slacked the wheels tension spring which is why you need to ensure you keep a tight grip of the wire until the tension is bought back to the wire in the welder. Welding (Arc and Mig) reels are an important and integral part of the welding process, in fact without a welding reel there is a great issue with trying to MIG weld without one. If your looking to become a MIG welder or you want to advance your MIG welding skills it's important to ensure you have a good quality reel with the correct welding wire available to attach to your welder. With any type of welding, its important to stay safe so when using a MIG welder and reels always ensure you have the correct safety equipment that has passed safety standard tests.
