The importance of Welding Shirts

Welding shirts and related clothing are important because as you carry out any welding the most important thing to take into consideration is the welder's safety and the safety of those around them. One of the main aspects of safety is clothing as protective clothing ensures that a welder is reducing the potential of burning themselves dramatically.

Of all the protective clothing available for welders one of the most used are welding shirts (also known as a welding jacket) which is an item of clothing that is easy to wear and really protects from sparks and heat caused by welding.

It must be said that there are welding garments which are not created with safety in mind there is also a huge variety that have been created simply to protect the welder from rogue sparks, arc flash hazards and the heat of welding.

In the old days of welding shirts the options available were very limited with ugly wool shirts being the only shirts of choice but today there is a myriad of different options available, many of which one would not realize are actually welding shirts.

Although welding clothes are made for protection during welding, the average welder today wants more from their clothing, they want protection and aesthetic value too. This means that you don't simply want something to stop you from burning; you actually want something you don't mind wearing because it looks good too.

Welding-shirts are a great alternative to other protective clothing used during welding such as aprons and leathers which are cumbersome and can make you very hot. The beauty of welding clothing compared to other welding clothing is that they are more lightweight and easy to move in.

It may surprise many but a lot of welding clothes are actually made of cotton twill fabric, although some carry leather sleeves and other leather additives. For protection the seams of many shirts are actually sewn with Kevlar thread this stops heat from getting through the weaker areas where the shirt panels are sewn.

If you are thinking about starting to learn welding then it is important to review all the protective equipment and clothing available to decide which suits you best. If you are looking for lightweight, easy to wear and protective clothing then shirts are certainly the best option to go for. It is important to enjoy welding and to ensure you enjoy your welding experience a welding garments and other protective apparel is a must.
