Don`t leave matches and never leave your bic lighter in your pocket when welding. I`ve burned many a shirt pocket from welding sparks, and when you start smelling it its too late you're on fire. As for the bic and other lighters well theirs a safety film that shows a man getting his arm blown off from a bic lighter.
