Where to place the electrode

I am learning to weld, from zero. Truly zero. One of the worse difficulties was to see where the tip of the electrode meets the piece to weld, when I have the dark mask on.
A sunny day I noted that the solar light makes visible the zone. Then I made an illuminator with two 75W 220V dichroic lamps. This proved a great help to me. Now I can see in detail where to place the electrode to start the arc.
Pardon my English, I speak Spanish and use Google Translator.
